Anno Spiral, DARKSIDE was still emphatically the pop project of Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington, but on Nothing , the duo-turned-trio surrenders to the grooves. The familiar influences—psych rock, dub, post-punk—are drawn out more, supplemented with moments of funk and prog jazz. Vocals now serve the music instead of the other way around.
