Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion (Purple Marble Vinyl LP)
"Emotion," a pivotal album in Jepsen's career, re-launched her as an indie pop darling in the music industry. The artist assembled a long list of producers and collaborators, including Dev Hynes, Rostam Batmanglij, Mattman & Robin, and Peter Svensson of the Cardigans. It also marked a creative turning point: Jepsen was inspired by '80s music and more alternative sounds. "Emotion" broke through with the hit singles "I Really Like You," "Run Away With Me," and "Your Type."
The album debuted at number 16 on the US Billboard 200 and at number 8 in Canada and Japan. It was certified gold in 2016. The lead single, "I Really Like You," reached the top 5 in several countries, including the UK and Japan. The music video was a viral hit with artists like Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber – to date, it has been viewed 1.7 billion times. To promote the album, Jepsen launched her Gimme Love tour in November 2015 and a follow-up tour in February 2016.
During the anniversary celebrations, Jepsen will perform "Emotion" from start to finish at a sold-out Troubadour show. She has already hinted at special guests and other surprises.
