British IDM producer Loraine James really cranks up the heat on her second album under this name. No matter how hot or cold it is, the music (somewhere between ambient and drum 'n' bass, à la Autechre) is a surprise with every track.

The Devil Makes Three is a folk/bluegrass/punk band from California, fronted by the charismatic Pete Bernhard. They've been around since 2002. Spirits sounds like the soundtrack to a Coen Brothers film. "Too many spirits / In this house now / Too many spirits / In my head
/ Too many spirits / In that bottle / All I do is speak with the dead..." "

The Birmingham post-punk duo has the same dark humor and cynical spoken-word lyrics on NATIONAL AVERAGE. The melodies are a bit funkier, but it still grates.

An album about the future and how much power we've given to computers. Quite electronic, compared to Sef's previous album. Really cool collaborations with Froukje and Wende.

A very colorful, playful (and funny?) record from England's best rapper, perfect for summer. And Simz had to deal with a lot of shit in the years before that.
