Ghost founder and vocalist Tobias Forge has adopted a new identity. But Papa V Perpetua, as he now presents himself, isn't a new dimension in the Swedish band's mythical tangle. On the contrary, it's an unraveling. Skeletà strips down the band's familiar sound, even exposing the soul of the person behind the mask—only to do something completely different with it. Between the gentle, melodic moments, Ghost revels in kitsch: more Def Leppard than Black Sabbath. Ghost is now so established, and everything sounds so 80s, that you'd almost forget they've only been around for fifteen years.
