Little Simz has been through enough in the music industry in recent years to isolate herself out of suspicion. Fortunately, on Lotus , it turns out she's learned a very different lesson. There's strength in numbers. The English rapper's sixth album is her most exuberant project since "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert" and is also packed with guest appearances. Heavenly moments abound when Jungle vocalist Lydia Kitto appears on "Only"; the angelic voices of Moses Sumney, Sampha, and Michael Kiwanuka also enrich Simz's flow, which is sometimes introspective, sometimes incendiary, and sometimes biting and satirical. The outcome is undeniably optimistic. The lotus blooms.
