Mac Miller has been dead for as long as his career was. That new material is still emerging seven years later speaks volumes about his productivity. The big surprise here is that Balloonerism isn't just a cabinet of curiosities, a crammed box of demos, but instead a polished, complete album. The rapper recorded the album in 2014—between Watching Movies with the Sound Off, Faces , and GO:OD AM . And there's no shortage of ideas. Balloonerism sometimes bursts at the seams with jazzy beats, percussion bursts, and even Beatles-esque psychedelia, then suddenly unravels with disconcerting consequences. It's the curse of a posthumous album: what on earth do you do with a line like "Fuck the future … What does death feel like? / I wonder what death feels like?" CD / LP

	The Weather Station has already made several albums about the climate crisis , but on Humanhood , we hear the whooshing wind, bone-chilling cold, and scorching heat more than ever before. The Toronto folk band takes a "maximalist" approach—for its standards—and is surprisingly reminiscent of Sigur Rós. Fortunately, we can actually hear frontwoman Tamara Lindeman. CD / LP
	Look, there's Fred Again... Anyone familiar with the British dance producer knows his boundless energy, which is also all-important on Ten Days . We swing from melancholy to upbeat stadium anthems and hear a wide variety of collaborations. Who would have ever predicted that Emmylou Harris would appear on the same album as Skrillex and Anderson .Paak? LP
	For a moment, we were afraid AWKWARD had called it a day, but seven years after their previous album, they've now released the warm, imaginative Unalaska . A remote town in the Bering Sea is Djurre de Haan's starting point. From there, he takes us on a journey through humanity—with minimal means and maximum effect. Some fairytale synths here, harmonies there. Frayed folk-pop to get lost in. CD / LP
