Seven albums to look forward to in 2025

Horsegirl - Phonetics On and On (February 14, CD / LP )
During the coldest weeks of 2024, Horsegirl sought the warmth of Wilco's The Loft, along with producer Cate Le Bon. Singles "Julie" and "2468" promise an even sharper, more playful version of their 90s-inspired indie rock sound.
Sam Fender - People Watching (February 25, CD / LP )
South Shields' Springsteen adopts an anthropological perspective on his third album. Expect colorful, captivating portraits from Newcastle and the surrounding area.
FKA twigs - Eusexua (January 24, CD / LP )
Eusexua is the first full-length studio album from the English pop experimentalist and bears little resemblance to Magdalene . Techno seems to be the primary influence, but the lead single, "Eusexua," already subverts that expectation considerably.
Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory - Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory (February 7, CD / LP )
Van Etten has been making excellent indie rock albums for years, but apparently, she'd never "just jammed." Consider this a new debut—with new words and a different sound.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - The Purple Bird (January 31, CD / LP )
Will Oldham has only made one album with a producer before; he's never written his songs with anyone else. The Purple Bird is his "Nashville album"—fans of Dylan and Cohen know what that means.
Ichiko Aoba - Luminescent Creatures (February 28, CD / LP )
Japanese artist Aoba creates dreamy soundtracks for imaginary films. Luminous sea creatures seem to be the protagonists of her latest work, a kind of sequel to Windswept Adan .
DJ Koze - Music Can Hear Us (April 4, CD  / LP )
The German DJ's first album in seven years promises to be a "62-minute space journey." Damon Albarn, among others, will be featured.
